Sweetheart Mocktail Recipe [Gluten-Free & Vegan!]

Sweetheart Mocktail Recipe [Gluten-Free & Vegan!]

Back in my day, there was something called “Sweethearts” and these weren’t just your loved ones, but they were candies! Gather around children, let me tell you the wonderful tale of “Sweethearts!”

So, you probably remember Sweetheart candies, also known as conversation hearts, that are available every Valentine’s Day, but in case you don’t know what the hell I’m talking about let me fill you in.

Sweetheart candies were a delicious, strange, chalky candy that was formed into small hearts (about the size of your thumbnail) and each one had a fun message on it like “U R HOT” or “KISS ME” or “CALL ME.” You could give one to your crush and then giggle and be like “Hahaha, but I don’t actually mean it! Jk!” even though you totally meant it.

Anywho, the company who made them, Necco, went bankrupt in 2018 and their candy brands were sold off including “Sweethearts.” Spangler Candy Company purchased the rights and began manufacturing them in 2020, however, they weren’t the same hearts. The sayings weren’t printed on the candy hearts due to machine malfunctions, so needless to say I’m a bit worried to see what happens this year which is why I’ve created this mocktail!

Tldr; I created a mocktail that is reminiscent of Sweethearts candy, but is so, so, so much better.
